A modern and sustainable national park. In Bohemian Switzerland, we are investing in the future of nature and our visitors.

Just a few years ago, the area around Hřensko was one of those places that most visitors associated with deep forests, sandstone cliffs and romantic footpaths. However, the summer of 2022 changed that perception. The landscape here has, however, changed dramatically in recent years. The fire in the summer of 2022 further accelerated this transformation, affecting approximately 1,300 hectares of forest in the national park and its surroundings. While the first months after the fire were marked by ensuring safety and eliminating the consequences, today the park is looking ahead.

From slaughtering animals to nature conservation: the Třeboň Region House of Nature is to be built on the site of the former abattoir

Houses of Nature are an integral part of the nature and landscape conservation system in the Czech Republic. Every protected landscape area has such a centre, and the Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area is no exception. The existing House of Nature on the castle grounds was closed this year for operational reasons until 30 June 2026; thanks to this project, Třeboňsko will gain a new House of Nature in completely new premises.

Sustainable tourism and biodiversity in practice: Czech University of Life Sciences Prague presented five projects

As part of the 3rd annual meeting, a Swiss delegation, together with representatives of the National Coordination Unit, the Ministry of the Environment, and other cooperating ministries, visited the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, where projects focused on nature conservation, responsible tourism, and public education in environmental issues were presented within the programme “Sustainable Tourism and Enhancing Biodiversity.

The SACA-ACTRIS strengthens Cz.-Swiss coop. in aerosol and air quality research

Last week, the Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the CAS in Prague hosted a visit by Swiss partners, attended by representatives of the National Coordination Unit, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, and other collaborating organizations. The main item on the agenda was the presentation of the project “SACA-ACTRIS – State of the Art Characterization of Atmosphere: Aerosols and Reactive Trace Gases” which is being implemented by the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute. The program also included a guided tour of the laboratories and the outdoor measuring station.
