How can tourism go hand in hand with nature conservation? And how can we ensure that valuable natural sites are preserved for future generations? These were the key questions addressed at the kick-off meeting for 25 projects supported under the 2nd Call for Proposals of the Sustainable Tourism and Enhancing Biodiversity Programme – Small Grants Scheme, implemented within the Swiss-Czech Cooperation Programme.

Representatives of Czech and Swiss partner organisations met in Prague and online on 15 October to present their projects, share experiences and explore joint solutions for a more sustainable future. A total of 25 projects received CZK 107 million in funding from the Sustainable Tourism and Enhancing Biodiversity Programme, financed by the Second Swiss Contribution.

What are the projects focused on?

  • Managing visitor numbers and addressing overtourism in areas of high natural value.
  • Protecting endangered species, restoring habitats and promoting biodiversity.
  • Promoting sustainable tourism, education and a more responsible approach to nature.

An important part of the meeting was also the exchange of experiences and good practices. Discussions covered public communication, cooperation with local stakeholders, measuring project impacts and ensuring the long-term sustainability of project results.
